Mitigation:
Mitigation is the development of solutions to offset
impacts that have occurred to wetland and upland environments. Solutions
to offset the stated impacts may include the preservation,
enhancement, restoration, or creation of various habitats either
on or off the site where the impact occurred.
Habitat enhancement and restoration of vegetative communities
to their naturally/historically occurring state can be accomplished
through several types of treatments included but not limited
to prescribed burning, chemical applications, and mechanical
vegetative control. Habitat creation includes both wetland
and upland ecosystems and can involve either the direct seeding
or planting of herbaceous plant and tree material to mimic
naturally/historically occurring ecosystems.
FES is proud to contribute to the development and implementation
of mitigation plans.
